Understanding calculated costs

Each calculation carries the limitations of its price and nutrition entries.

Shop prices require review FATSL does not quote prices for a specific shop or offer a checkout basket. Shop-specific data can appear publicly only after the observation and permission to display it have been reviewed.
City price entry A price entry contains a food, city, unit, currency and value. It represents an available record for that food and city, not a price that applies to every shop in the city.
Price on a common basis Unit conversion puts prices on a comparable basis. Divide the price per kilogram by 10 to get the price per 100 g; other calculated costs use nutrition values per 100 g.
Cost per 100 g This is the cost of one tenth of a kilogram using the available entry. It helps compare foods with different pack weights and categories.
Calculated cost per 100 kcal The formula uses price and calories per 100 g: price_per_100g / (kcal_per_100g / 100). No result is shown if calories are missing or zero.
Price per 10 g protein The formula uses price and protein per 100 g: price_per_100g / (protein_per_100g / 10). No result is shown if protein is missing or zero.
Reference-entry status Reference entries support checks of page layouts, navigation, tables and reports. They do not confirm market conditions and have limited applicability.
Imported entries An imported entry needs its unit, observation date and display rights checked. Until then, it must not appear to be a confirmed public entry.
How data dates are described When a reviewed observation date is available, FATSL can show when the price was observed. Otherwise, the value is described as based on available data.
Interpreting a comparison A highlighted minimum is the lowest available value in the FATSL table. It does not promise that a shop currently offers that price.

Example calculation

For a city price entry of RUB 300 per kg, the cost per 100 g is RUB 30. At 150 kcal per 100 g, the cost per 100 kcal is 30 / 1.5 = RUB 20. At 20 g of protein per 100 g, the cost per 10 g of protein is 30 / 2 = RUB 15.

When the starting price is a reference value, every cost calculated from it remains a reference value too.

What FATSLIM does not claim

  • Does not confirm stock availability, promotions, delivery or a specific shop price.
  • Does not replace retailer price monitoring or provide a checkout basket.
  • Keeps missing and calculated values separate: missing inputs are shown as “no data” or “n/a”.
  • Does not draw medical conclusions from the cost of calories or protein.
